A Summer of Inclusivity: England Deaf Golf and The Golf Group Team Up

We’re pleased to report a successful partnership with England Deaf Golf this summer. Our collaboration resulted in a series of events aimed at making golf more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

Event Highlights

Before we delve into the details, you can watch the key moments from our Inclusivity Event and the UK’s first ALL FOR GOLF Inclusivity Tournament below.

The events served as a UK pilot, forming part of The Golf Group’s ALL FOR GOLF programme. This initiative supports the ongoing efforts to make golf more accessible and inclusive to all people.

Feedback from Co-Founders

Golf Group Co-Founder Abi Owers emphasised that golf should be a sport everyone can enjoy, regardless of age, skill level, or background. “The events had a positive impact, connecting the deaf community through golf and fostering an environment inclusive of all abilities,” said Abi.

Attendee Experience

We were pleased to see attendees from various locations, some even travelling from as far as Exeter. The response was overwhelmingly positive, indicating a strong demand for similar events across the country.

On behalf of England Deaf Golf, Vice President Stuart Harris highlighted the importance of such events signing “They are crucial because they provide deaf children with role models, which in turn inspires greater involvement in deaf sports.”

Special Features

Apart from games and interactive sessions, the events also included a Long Drive demonstration by Golf Group Co-Founder and former long-drive champion Gavin Beddow. Children were invited to try it out for themselves, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

Participant Testimonials

Marc Ashford, whose 8-year-old son George participated, praised the initiative saying “We travelled a great distance because there’s no other event offering this level of inclusivity.”

Matt Bradshaw from England Deaf Golf said: “One of the things that we are trying to do at England Deaf Golf is to provide people with a pathway to show people that golf is an option it’s a great opportunity to meet people, get involved, have fun and also to get their confidence up at the same time.”

Going Forward

We want to extend our thanks to our sponsor, American Golf, and to everyone who took part in these groundbreaking events. As this was a series of firsts for us, we’re now looking for a partner to support the roll-out of the ALL FOR GOLF initiative across the UK.

Register for the UK’s First Golf Inclusivity Tournament

26th July 2023
High Legh Golf Club, Cheshire WA16 0WA

We believe that golf should be available and accessible to everyone.

Join us on the 26th July 2023 for the first UK tournament of its kind, where we bring together professional and amateur golfers with individuals who have never played before.

Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, this fun competition is for you. Taking around 90 minutes to play, it's a great way to celebrate the health and wellbeing benefits of golf while having a blast.
The event is a pairs competition, where golfers will hit the shots to the green and non-golfers will finish the hole by putting the ball in the hole. But don't worry if you don't have a partner - you can sign up on your own and we'll pair you with a fun teammate.
This format allows for limitless combinations, making it a great opportunity for parents to play with their children, disabled individuals to compete against Tour Professionals, and everyone in between. So why not join us for the first event of its kind and celebrate golf as an inclusive sport for all.
